Superior Titanium makes a wide variety of rugged corrosion proof titanium money clips and accessories. They sent us their top of the line Viper clip to be dissected and tested. How did it fare? Hit the jump to find out.
We, like most guys, are very picky about our money clips. Different guys have different needs when it comes to carrying their cash/cards. If you happen to carry quite a bit of the combination then definitely check out the Viper($45) by Superior Titanium. We like the fact that they used cut outs to add their own personal style that make it look almost like a weapon or a gadget. We also appreciate the fact that Superior Titanium went with a smooth finish rather than engraving some giant corny ass skull or iron cross which would be a major turn off to many. The Viper is made of 100% American titanium and measures in at 3″ x 1.75″ x 0.75″ weighing only 0.95 ounces.
Functionality:

We loaded up the Viper with seven bills and five cards and it was just a hair over half full. The bottom of the Viper leaves a wide open space for custom engraving, so if you’re thinking about making this a gift or you want to add your own personal flair then you have plenty of space to do so. The springiness (that’s actually a word) of the Viper is nice and snug. Right after having ours loaded up we immediately clipped just a single bill and it held in place as expected. We then tried the test with a single card and it did hold in place, but it would slide out with a little lateral pressure. The Viper is meant to hold a bunch of cards and cash, so if you’re looking for something to only hold a couple bills and a card or two then check out Superior Titanium’s Slim Clip($30).

Here we have a back to back comparison showing just cash (seven bills) on the left and two cards on the right. If you’re the type that doesn’t carry cash and only a couple cards we can’t say that the Viper is for you, but the Slim Clip would be your clip of choice.
Closing:

There’s no doubt Superior Titanium has succeeded in making a stylish, functional, and rugged money clip. We’d like to reiterate that the Viper is awesome if you’re going to be carrying large amounts of cash/cards, but if you’re the type that only carries a couple at once then it may be too bulky for your needs. We did purchase the Slim Clip from Superior Titanium and can attest for it’s quality and ability to hold small amounts of cash/cards, so they covered their bases for different users. The Viper is available in three finishes: Natural (what we reviewed), Black Diamond, and Titanium Nitride.
Special thanks to Dan over at Superior Titanium for providing the review unit.
