Modknobs_20100226

When redecorating your place doorknobs are often overlooked. If you do a search through your local hardware store you’ll also find that there are a lot less options than you’d expect. Modknobs realized this problem and decided to address it by introducing their take on the door knob. They have three styles and a multitude of colors to choose from, so picking one to match your modern pad shouldn’t be too difficult.

The Piano Table by Georg Bohle

Georg-Bohle-Piano-Table

What may seem like a smooth, simple oak table, is actually an 88-key electric piano. Now how sweet is that? Just flip open the door panel and Voilà, there’s the piano. The Piano Table by Georg Bohle is one of the most inventive pieces of furniture we’ve seen in quite some time. We can definitely appreciate the uniqueness of this piano table. The table itself is ideal for any dining room as it’s long enough to fit a whole family. However, an awesome piece of furniture like this doesn’t come cheap, as some of you may have guessed, the table is made to order at $6,000 a piece.

Bicycle Diaries

BicyclesDiaries

We haven’t been posting up as many good books as we would like, however, here is a book that anyone with a sense of curiosity and adventure could appreciate. What started off simply as a preferred means of transportation for David Byrne eventually turned into a way of life. With a fold up bicycle, a notebook and a sense of freedom, he cycled through cities all over the world meeting artists, musicians and observing urban living throughout the globe. Bicycle Diaries takes you on a ride from the perspective of a bike seat to places like Buenos Aires, London, New York City and Berlin. Through casual writing with a hint of humor and plenty of curiosity, David offers his personal insights about various cultures and peoples and what you can learn about a city based on the condition of its roads.

Binary Dictate Complete Skateboards

Binary_Dictate_Skateboard_20100222

So what kind of board does Christian Slater shred on when he’s not rocking the diamond sheet whale board al la Gleaming The Cube (our favorite 80s skate movie)? Well in reality he probably doesn’t skate, but if he did he would be riding a Binary Dictate ($80). These 8.0″ wide decks are built from extremely durable Canadian maple, and have a pretty slick circuit board design. The board glides on 52mm wheels and has the Binary logo etched out on the grip tape. For $80 bucks this is pretty much a steal.

Aspiral Clocks

Aspiral_Clock_20100219

London based Aspiral Clocks looks like they’re on to something. These clocks actually rotate and the ball just follows the track with the help of gravity. Every twelve hours the ball simply falls back into the hole and it’s reset back at the bottom. Very clever. Very cool. There are multiple designs that can be found on their site. The only problem is that they cost $540 bucks.
