newsgroups_20100813

Check out news groups. First things first. News groups are not free. You need to pay to have a usenet provider and an optional usenet search membership. This costs about $12 a month. Be Back Shortly

cback

As you can see, things have been relatively slow around here lately. That’s not to say we’ve lost interest or passion, quite the contrary. We’ve been busy behind the scenes working on an extremely complex plan to take over the world. No, not really but we have been working on a few projects that are quite intricate and thus require a lot of time and manpower. Rest assured, we will begin posting regularly like the good ol’ days. So please keep checking in and come back soon. We apologize for any troubles we may have caused you during this downtime, however, thanks for being patient and thanks for stopping by.

Midnight_Juggarnauts_Dystopia_20100108

The three piece Midnight Juggernauts are from Australia, and they have given musical birth to Dystopia. With solid beats and flowing vocals, this album is guaranteed to at least keep your foot tapping for the duration of this LP. Standout tracks include: Into the Galaxy, Road to Recovery, and Nine Lives.

The Best Times of The Year to Buy Anything

best

You always hear about certain times of the year when it’s best to buy certain products.  But when the time comes, you’re not quite sure. Everything has an “off” season and luckily for us, the good people over at Lifehacker have done the research and compiled a list for us. You’ll never have to wonder if you should wait for a sale on the big purchase any longer. For Example:

  • Air conditioners and grills are cheap all winter.
  • Digital cameras hit lows around January.
  • Spring is a good time to shop for a television.
  • April, August and September are good months for laptop sales, while Consumer Reports claims January, July and October are  good for desktops.
  • April and May are good times to snatch that expensive vacuum at a discount.
  • Lawn mowers see sales at the end of summer (September).
  • September and October are the months to snatch up big appliances.
  • Between the middle of November and the end of January is the time to score some HDTV and home theater equipment on the cheap.

Sea Change by Beck (2002)

Beck_Sea_Change_20091117

Sea Change($10) was the eighth album released by Beck back in 2002, and it is an absolute must have. Written after Beck’s breakup with a long term girlfriend, the album starts off on a high note as he sends her off and then he unravels his true emotions. The low and slow rhythm of this LP really does take you on a journey, and you can hear the sincerity with each and every track. Normally we would put stand out tracks, but really this whole album is solid gold.

The Usual Suspects on Blu-ray (1995)

Usual_Suspects_20091029

The Usual Suspects($10) easily fits in the top five of any guys movie collection. If you haven’t had the time to see this film, make some. The story begins with five felons being brought in for questioning regarding a robbery that took place in New York. The story unfolds as Verbal Kint (Kevin Spacey) narrates the group’s adventure to a US customs agent in California. We don’t want to introduce any spoilers so just take our word for it, this is a great movie. Loaded with comedy, action, suspense, and tons of quotable lines this is a must have.

Band of Horses is one of those bands that you get caught playing over and over by your friends. The Cease to Begin($14) album is absolutely no exception. It starts out very strong with the track “Is There A Ghost” and keeps it up throughout the record. Oldboy Movie from Park Chan-wook

Oldboy

There is no way we can do the film justice by attempting to explain what its about in words. Without spoiling this intense film, the plot if based around Oh Dae Sau, a man who has was captured and locked up for 15 years for an unknown reason and then released just as mysteriously. When he’s finally released, he finds himself still trapped in a web of conspiracy and strangeness as he has five days to discover the reason for his captivity and his captor. Fever Ray Self Titled Album (2009)

feverray_2009_1015

Fever Ray’s sole member is Karin Dreijer Andersson, of underground Swedish duet The Knife. This self titled album was released earlier this year and made it to our list of essentials. Let us say that any fan of The Knife will feel right at home with this LP in its entirety. The album consists of dark, cold, and sterile undertones that are beautifully crafted into complex melodies and slow flowing beats. An interesting fact about this album is that all vocals were done by Andersson, including the erie track Concrete Walls. Other stand out tracks: If I had a Heart, Triangle Walks, and Seven.
