Binary Dictate Complete Skateboards

Binary_Dictate_Skateboard_20100222

So what kind of board does Christian Slater shred on when he’s not rocking the diamond sheet whale board al la Gleaming The Cube (our favorite 80s skate movie)? Well in reality he probably doesn’t skate, but if he did he would be riding a Binary Dictate ($80). These 8.0″ wide decks are built from extremely durable Canadian maple, and have a pretty slick circuit board design. The board glides on 52mm wheels and has the Binary logo etched out on the grip tape. For $80 bucks this is pretty much a steal.

Giant Cardboard Taximdermy

cardboard-deer-head

There are tons of things you can do to decorate your bachelor pad, but even big ass TV’s and pool tables pale in comparison to a 10 point buck “trophy”. Now you can have the man points without the mess, the death, and generally creepy factor that comes from hanging something dead on your wall, thanks to the Giant Cardboard Taxidermy kit from Urban Outfitters. So if the whole going out and killing something for the sake of decoration isn’t your style, then this will suit you best. Some assembly is required but that will just add to your street cred.

The Martin Jet Pack

martinjp

If you were to ask us if we could have one super power, we’d most likely say to be able to fly. We aren’t talking about on a plane or in your dreams because that doesn’t count. The Martin Jet Pack is the closest thing to make this a reality. Self-proclaimed the be the world’s first practical Jet Pack, the Martin Jet Pack is powered by a specially designed 2.0L v4 gasoline engine which produces 200hp and capable of traveling as far as 31.5 miles or up to 8,000 feet. This innovative and advanced personal aircraft falls under the FAA’s Ultralight classification so a pilots license is not required, sweet right? Although you do have to pass their own training program before hand. And just in case anything may happen to you mid air, the Jet Pack features a built-in ballistic parachute so that’s just one less thing to worry about. Forget the Lambos and Ferraris, If you have the loot, imagine arriving at a club in one of these, ha ha.

Blunt Umbrella

blunt1

So because rain has arrived and people are somewhat freaking out about getting wet, we figure this is the perfect time to introduce the Blunt Umbrella. Umbrellas has been around for ages and their design has remained largely unchanged, despite obvious design flaws like them flipping inside out in strong winds or those pointy tips that can easily poke an eye out. New Zealand designer Greg Brebner set out to to design a better umbrella which would eliminate these flaws.

The most obvious change he implemented in the Blunt umbrella is the new shape of the canopy which eliminated the sharp spikes at the outer edges. Besides being safer, this umbrella can withstand winds forces up to 70mph. How you ask? Blunt technology calls their improvements the Radial Tensioning System, which spreads the force of the wind along the outer edge of the canopy, where the surface area is highest. Using a mix of various innovations, including floating ribs (made out of fiberglass) that are detached from the umbrella shaft and double struts.  The design gives it a rigid profile that keeps the rainy day accessory from turning inside-out during particularly windy days. We’d say he has accomplished creating a better, refined umbrella. Prices range in the equivalent of $70 to $80 and are available in three sizes (Standard, Golf, and XL) and in three colors (black, gray, and blue).

Andtie Scarf/Necktie Combo

Andtie

For some of us, the winter months have just begun, which means ridiculously cold weather that no one should have to live in. Accessories such as gloves and scarves are a must. The Andtie Scarf will not only keep you warm but it will also add a touch of professionalism to your outfit since one end makes it look like you’re wearing a necktie. Pricing and availability on their website is very vague considering you need to email them in order to get the information you need. Either way you can email them at contact@andtie.dk to find out more.

On Running Shoes

onrunningshoes

The new year is pretty much here and soon the gyms will be packed with those in hopes of shedding some pounds. One of the most popular exercises is of course is running. The only downside of running is that it places the highest impact on your muscles and tendons which could definitely cause problems. More than 2/3 of runners eventually suffer minor or serious injuries. On Running Shoes steps into the scene with a solution. They have patented the WaveStep Technology, which is an array of hollowed circular pieces of rubber underlining the shoes that will absorb the impact and release energy for the push-off via the interlocking pieces. They say it’s like running on clouds. Check out the video for the full explanation here. The On Running Shoes final design will be unveiled in Munich on February 2010.

The Torch – World’s Most Powerful Flashlight

torch

Currently being reviewed by The Guiness Book of World Records, The Torch is currently the world’s brightest and most powerful flashlight. Powered by 4100 lumens of illumination, the Torch is capable of generating enough heat to melt plastic, scramble eggs, light matches, roast marshmallows and anything else susceptible to extreme heat. Seriously, this is not a joke. This thing can definitely blind you so don’t be a dummy and try staring into the light to test it out. The Torch is even encased in aerospace grade aluminum and uses a specialized heat resistant glass lens. The only downside is that its quite expensive and the rechargeable battery only lasts 15 minutes so if you do get this, be sure to get an extra battery. Otherwise we don’t think you’ll be disappointed with its performance.

In Depth Review: Selk’Bag 3G

SelkBag_3G_poses

We must admit when first looking at the photos of this thing it channeled our inner child. The enclosed feet, closable hands, and color actually reminds us of Gumby. First things first don’t ever compare the Selk’Bag to a Snuggie. Designed in Chile by Rodrigo Alonso in affiliation with MusucHouse, this sleep wear system is the furthest possible product from a Snuggie. It’s rated to keep you warm down to 36°F/2°C (ice forms at 32°F/0°C). Read on to see what we thought of the Selk’Bag 3G.
