KFC Double Down Sandwich

doubledown

OK… Seriously. This is MAN food. KFC decided that bread is no longer a prerequisite for a sandwich. Introducing the Double Down.  Instead of bread, you get two pieces of chicken, cheese, bacon and some sort of sauce. The only way to be more manly than this sandwich is to buy a Big Mac and a Fish Filet and stick it in the center. In all honesty though it isn’t as bad as we figured. It’s only 540 calories and 32g of fat. Or if you want to be a health nut, you can get it grilled and it will only be 460 calories and 23g of fat. Either way, in our opinion it’s totally worth it. </sarcasm>

Le Whif Coffee Inhaler

Le_Whif_Coffee_20100318

Coffee is something that we enjoy, but typically don’t have the time to make. Especially when we could really use the boost of energy. Le Whif has come up with a pretty novel idea of actually inhaling tiny coffee particles to deliver the taste and caffeine without any calories at all. Each puff from Le Whif delivers about as much caffeine as a light espresso. Also available are chocolate inhalers.

Naga Jolokia – Ghost Peppers

Ghost_Peppers_20100126

If you think you’re a hot sauce tough guy then put your money where your mouth is. The Waimea Bay Chili Pepper Company, based in Hawaii, grows USDA organic approved Naga Jolokias (Ghost Peppers). Ghost Peppers are simply the hottest pepper in the word. Period. They dwarf Habaneros by at least three times on the Scoville scale. For reference, Tobasco sauce rates in between 2,500-5,000 Scovilles. Law enforcement grade pepper spray rates in at about 5,000,000 Scovilles. A single Ghost Pepper rates between 15,000,000-16,000,000 (no we didn’t add extra 0’s) Scovilles. You would have a better time using pepper spray as Binaca than eating a single Ghost Pepper. Starting at two bucks why not give it a try?

Route 11 Potato Chips

Route11_Chips_20100107

Potato chips are potato chips right? Wrong. Route 11 started about 10 years ago and originated in Middletown Virginia with the goal of creating the best chips on the planet. Route 11 fries up thin slices of potatoes in 14 tasty flavors that perfectly complement your favorite meal or brew of choice. A few flavors that got our attention are the habanero flavored Mama Zuma’s, sweet potato with cinnamon and sugar, and the Chesapeake crab. The differentiating factor that Route 11 exploits is the fact that they hand cook all of their chips.  This is more labor intensive than the big companies out there and produces a superior product. Check their site for 1.5 pound tins of your favorite flavor for $18, or chip and dip packs for about $30. They are also available at select shops around the country so go to their site to check your location.
