bose-in-ear-headphones

For those willing to pay $100 + dollars, Bose is rolling out a trio of headphones that will make your decision that much harder to choose to from. Its understandable since phones and music players are now basically inseparable. The IE2 has been engineered for portable media players while the MIE2 and MIE2i are both designed to handle calls and tunes. The trio will all feature Bose’s proprietary TriPort acoustic headphone structure and StayHear tips that will supposedly stay lodged regardless of activity. Both the IE2 and MIE2 will be available this month while the Apple-specific MIE2i  will be out sometime in October for $130. From experience, Bose might be more on the expensive side but their products are well worth it.

The Chemical Brothers – Further

The-Chemical-Brothers-Further_20100812

The Chemical Brothers are back with their latest album Further. The heavy hitting electronic duo decided to bring things back to their roots and deliver a sound from their earlier days of Surrender and Dig Your Own Hole. We’ve listened to the album a few times in it’s entirety and give our seal of approval. Stand out tracks include the nearly 12 minute journey Escape Velocity, K+D+B, and our album favorite Swoon. We picked up some tickets to see them live at the Hollywood Bowl later this month. Anyone else in? We’ll bring the glow sticks.

XBMC Media Center Software

XBMC_mediaSW_20100526

Many of us are starting to use our computers more and more to consume music, movies, and even television. The problem with this picture is that not all of us have massive monitors and stereo systems to really enjoy all of this wonderful content. XBMC is media center software that is easy to use, fully customizable, and works on virtually any computer platform. The best part about XBMC? It’s absolutely free. Now you’re probably wondering “That’s nice, how do I get it on my TV?” Well the folks over at LifeHacker wrote up a nice little guide to build a silent and miniscule dedicated media center for about $200. You can read the guide here. Another cool feature with XBMC is that you can even set it up as a video game emulator to play all of those classic ROMs you have floating around your computer.

DigiZoid ZO Personal Subwoofer

DigiZoid-ZO-Personal-Subwoofer

If you haven’t noticed, portable speakers are getting smaller and smaller. It’s crazy how much sound can come from such tiny speakers, however the down side is that there is usually no bass. The DigiZoid ZO Personal Subwoofer is here to change that. It’s not your conventional headphone amplifier, equalizer, or artificially produced 3D sound effect. Instead, the Zo is said to define a new category of sound system – an electronic subwoofer. The Zo fits in your pocket and provides booming audio with 32 bass intensity settings. Unlike anything you’ve heard before, the Zo uses SmartVector sound countering technology which adjusts equalization to provide optimum sound reproduction from any speaker with matched acoustic response.

The Piano Table by Georg Bohle

Georg-Bohle-Piano-Table

What may seem like a smooth, simple oak table, is actually an 88-key electric piano. Now how sweet is that? Just flip open the door panel and Voilà, there’s the piano. The Piano Table by Georg Bohle is one of the most inventive pieces of furniture we’ve seen in quite some time. We can definitely appreciate the uniqueness of this piano table. The table itself is ideal for any dining room as it’s long enough to fit a whole family. However, an awesome piece of furniture like this doesn’t come cheap, as some of you may have guessed, the table is made to order at $6,000 a piece.

M83 – Satudays = Youth (2008)

M83_Saturdays_Youth_20100212

French musician Anthony Gonzalez’s (M83) album Saturdays = Youth is something to listen to when you want to unwind after a hectic day. The LP is great to listen through in one sitting or to use as background music. The overall feel of the album is reminiscent of what 80s music was all about. We swear we can hear a little Joy Division and Tears for Fears mixed in, but M83 puts in his own electronic/piano spin to make it sound refreshing. Stand out tracks: Kim and Jessie, Skin of the Night, and Too Late.
